If a job interview is in person, it is a good idea to be a few minutes early to check in, use the bathroom, and get some water. It is considered rude to be 30 minutes early. However, if you’re concerned about traffic or other delays, then you should get there early, but not enter the building. Go to a coffee shop nearby instead. Once it’s a few minutes before the interview time, then go into the building.
If a job interview is remote, it is a good idea to prepare at least a few minutes early before the call. About 5 minutes before, you should:
Close the door
Check your camera and mic
Let people know to be quiet if you’re in a noisy area
Close other tabs, notifications, apps on both your phone and laptop
This will give you a moment to center yourself and not get distracted.
